The Individual Tour Cycling Holiday staying in a
characteristic 16th century manor house with pool
Thinking
about the Algarve most people think of crowded beaches.
However only few people know there is another Algarve as
well, with deserted beaches and an unspoiled nature
which is covered with
umbrella pines,
cork oak trees and “medronheiros”.
Mexilhoeira Grande is a small and authentic village,
1500 meters straight of the coast.
(see map) When you head north you are in the
untouched interior of Portugal.
1000 meter
south from the village you will find the nature
protected area Ria de Alvor. Flamingos are living here
in wintertime. You can also walk & cycle around the lagoon,
visit salt pans and sand banks where local
fishers find their shellfish. Stay in an
authentic Portuguese village near the coast. This 16th
century guesthouse has all modern comfort you wish.
From this guesthouse six routes are well written out.
You can choose between cycling to cities like Portimão
and Lagos, or to go to the mountains or the lake. These
routes are able to do for people with some experience
with cycling. All routes are
described by difficulty grade.
You will stay in Casa da Palmeirinha in a
double room and a private bathroom. During your
stay we have booked for you two dinners in a local
tavern. The guesthouse
has a swimming pool in a cosy patio garden where its
great to relax after a day cycling.
Here you can “come home”
after an intensive cycle day. You can sit in the
communal room with a nice glass of wine, next to the
fireplace.
